About Your Hosts

We started building our dream home in 2005 when we stood on the shore of Lake Minard and looked out over the fresh water lake and sized up the view of the Grays Harbor bar. The lot was covered with native plants and bushes and we found our future home already used as shelter by several deer and small animals. We carefully carved out a portion for our house and fire pit while leaving an ample buffer of natural vegetation for the wild life (yes, the deer stay with us too!). We developed a home that maximized the view of the harbor while providing all the high tech creature comforts found in modern homes.

We spent our earlier life as entrepreneurs in the business world, having started a research company (Market Trends, Inc.) in 1982. We had the privilege to conduct market research studies around the world with many of the fortune 500 companies. During the 22 years we ran the company, we came to Ocean Shores on the weekends with our kids to camp in our trailer, so it was during that time we learned the enjoyment of the Washington coast through many stress relieving walks on the beach. One thing you learn about the Washington coast is it is always changing, providing you opportunities from windy kite flying and wind surfing, sun bathing and beachcombing, to watching storm fronts pass through. The old camping lot, and now our new home, were and are our oasis from everyday stress and responsibilities.

Now, we are "basically" retired although there always seems to be plenty of volunteering to do, and Bill does enjoy keeping his research hat on by doing some consulting work with the Washington State Transportation Commission whenever it's needed.

We have designed our house to provide our guests with a private get away where they can come and go in comfort and security. The house is completely computer monitored using the latest home automation software, and your hosts are available to provide you with suggestions to help in enjoying the coast.

We look forward to the future and sharing our love of Ocean Shores with new people and old friends from around the world.
